

Instructors Bios
Sue Russell, Director, has a BFA in
Graphic Design from the University of Georgia and an MA in art/ art education
from Arizona State University. She has more than 25 years
experience teaching in the United States, Saudi Arabia and Germany.
Ms. Russell's philosophy is that anything you do with passion is a form of
art. Art, like any skill, is acquired. With good instruction and devoted
practice, talent is developed.
Dora S. (Danie)
Janov,
Associate Director, is an artist/art educator with more than 25 years of
experience teaching art and design at the college and university level. She has
a BA from Georgetown College in Art and English, an MA from Radford University
and a doctorate from Ball State University in Art / Art Education. Her own
artwork in watermedia reflects her interest in nature, especially the myriad
sources of imagery in western North Carolina.
Linda Campbell
has a BS from Queens College in Charlotte. She had a 30 year corporate career
before becoming a creative butterfly. She is an amazing culinary artist, an
avid fly fisherman and an emerging visual artist. She is solely responsible for
keeping some left-brain order in this very right-brained environment.
Monita Mahoney
is an award-winning multimedia artist whose primary focus is watermedia
exploration, although she works in many mediums. She says, "Working in more than
one medium is like a farmer rotating his crops to replenish the earth…each
medium I use enhances my use of the others." She
has extensive experience in papermaking, marbling, quilting.
As an administrator, at teacher and an artist, she understands the many nuances
of the creative
process.
